Still gently asleep, you float adrift in a sweet dream. Your whole existence feels light as a feather, and as the mellow illumination in the room grows brighter, your consciousness glides slowly—almost imperceptibly—from the pleasant dream; you awake encompassed by soft, warm sheets, and a radiant glow of a new day before you.
That is what Peaceful Slumber is all about.
The piece was written during a short moment I had alone at home, with my wife and our then-only daughter out. I don’t recall the exact timeframe, but I want to say that it took less than an hour. Piano was my main instrument before I began composing, so writing for it felt intuitive, and I feel that I managed to communicate the idea that I had quite well.
If you pay close attention, you’ll actually notice that I’ve used this small piece of music in another one of my pieces; listen to Hop, Skip and Jump! to hear an orchestrated version of Peaceful Slumber.
Close your eyes, press play… and float away on fluffy clouds of serene daydreams.
